1. Sniffing Video Streams from Your Browser (Browser Companion Bridge)
When you play a video on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, TikTok, Bilibili, or 1,000+ media sites, the NGS Companion Extension detects the active media manifest and displays a floating "Download Video with NGS" button right on the player.
Clicking that button sends the media URL (and temporary session cookies for member or age-gated videos) over NGS Download Manager's authenticated 127.0.0.1 loopback bridge.
2. Choosing Resolution, MP3 Audio & Subtitles (Media Format Selector)
As soon as the link arrives, NGS Download Manager opens the Media Quality & Format Selector window:
- Video + Audio Mode: Pick from all detected qualities—such as 2160p 4K 60fps, 1440p 2K QHD, 1080p Full HD 60fps, or compact 720p—with exact estimated file sizes and pre-flight disk space verification.
- Audio Only Mode: Switch to Audio Only (MP3) to download just the audio stream and convert it into MP3 (320 kbps), M4A (192k AAC), or lossless WAV.
- Subtitles & Thumbnails: Check Download Subtitles (.srt / .vtt) and Embed Video Thumbnail at the bottom of the dialog.
3. Parallel Track Download & Lossless FFmpeg Merging
Once you click Start Download, NGS Download Manager accelerates both the high-resolution video track and master audio track across up to 32 parallel streams. Immediately upon completion, NGS Media Processor automatically executes an optimized post-processing pipeline to mux both tracks into a perfectly synchronized .mp4 (with +faststart web optimization) or .mkv (instant lossless stream copy)!
